The African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” has taken on a new level of importance as schools and families work tirelessly to close learning gaps and educate our students under increasingly difficult circumstances. Educational research indicates a strong correlation between community support and student learning. In this engaging course participants will explore the potential impact that school, local, corporate, and professional communities can have on student learning. Participants will learn about platforms that support community collaboration, explore outreach and grant opportunities, and apply skills to create and build relationships between the classroom and the outside community. Participants will collaborate via online communities to discuss and share lessons and strategies.
This is a hybrid course with both face-to-face instruction, as well as online classwork. The skills and strategies explored in this course can be applied to all content areas.
This course has previously been approved for METHODOLOGY.
Live Meetings: There will be live interactive meetings. Dates and times to be announced. There will be make-up dates if you cannot attend.
