LAUSD: Visual Tools for Backwards Design

NA-21-51       Instructor: Multiple         2 Salary Points

Backwards design is a framework for improving student achievement where educators begin with the end result in mind, determine goal progressions, and finally plan learning experiences. When educators are presented with a new EdTech tool, they often work to find a way to incorporate it into the classroom immediately, and often miss the potential to advance up the SAMR model because they are leading with the tool and not the end goal in mind. Participants will use backwards design to explore new EdTech tools for instruction, collaboration, application, and assessment. They will create lesson plans with visual EdTech tools that aid in the creation of infographics, visuals, multimedia, and other digital products.  Participants will collaborate and share their lessons with each other. Participants meet virtually via online communities to discuss and share lessons and strategies.
