Policy, technological advances, and foreign relations have impacted the makeup of our schools. We now teach populations of learners who are linguistically and culturally diverse. In this course, educators will analyze past and current theories, approaches, methodologies, programs and policies that impact their language learning populations.
This foundation will provide educators with informed choices for developing a multicultural curriculum and lesson plans that best support their current and future populations of language learners. Course participants will also evaluate effective assessment practices, current technologies, online resources, and web tools and apps that help them enhance the four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and improve English language fluency.
Participants will also discover strategies for partnering with parents for student success and be introduced to online English Language Teacher (ELT) professional development opportunities, as well as, teacher associations to help further provide them with support.
The course instructor is a world-renowned ELT trainer, speaker, and innovator who has taught language learners and refugees and trained teachers in over 20 countries. She is an ESL Specialist for the US Embassy and Georgetown University and the co-founder of the ELTon nominated #ELTChat.
