Hybrid: Visual Tools to Redefine Learning

Instructor: Mallack Walsh   3 Graduate Credits

Drake Course #EDMT 272

If you plan on completing more than 5 courses over a 4 month period, let us know first so that we can confirm the university can process the transcripts promptly.

The SAMR  (substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition) Model was developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura to help educators identify the levels of effective technology integration. In his theory of multiple intelligences, Dr. Howard Gardner of Harvard suggests that “students possess different kinds of minds and therefore learn, remember, perform, and understand in different ways”.  Visual/spatial intelligence is the ability to perceive, use, and understand images and patterns and to think in terms of physical space. In this engaging course, taught by a Google Certified Trainer, participants will explore EdTech tools that redefine learning and support visual/spatial teaching and learning.  Participants will create lesson plans with creative web tools that aid in the creation of infographics, visuals, multimedia, and other digital products.  Participants will collaborate and share their lessons with each other. Participants meet virtually via online communities to discuss and share lessons and strategies.

This is a hybrid course with both face-to-face instruction, as well as online classwork.  The skills and strategies explored in this course can be applied to all content areas.
