Close reading is a series of strategies that invite students to interact with complex texts. While researchers have noted many benefits of close reading, it takes a lot of understanding and planning to implement an effective close reading lesson. Fortunately, there are many digital tools that can help make this process more efficient, effective, and engaging. In this course, participants will dive deep into close reading while incorporating a live case study. In each module participants will learn about a component of close reading, explore digital tools to assist in implementation, and create a close reading lesson that can be immediately implemented in the classroomParticipants will collaborate via online communities to discuss and share lessons and strategies.

This is a hybrid course with both face-to-face instruction, as well as online classwork.  The skills and strategies explored in this course can be applied to all content areas.
