Close reading is a series of strategies that invite students to interact with complex texts. While researchers have noted many benefits of close reading, it takes a lot of understanding and planning to implement an effective close reading lesson. Fortunately, there are many digital tools that can help make this process more efficient, effective, and engaging. In this course, participants will dive deep into close reading while incorporating a live case study. In each module participants will learn about a component of close reading, explore digital tools to assist in implementation, and create a close reading lesson that can be immediately implemented in the classroom.
Los Angeles teachers are limited to enrolling in a maximum of six courses per session through ED Technology Specialists. If students finish coursework before the session end date, paperwork for salary points will be processed at that time.
