Phenomena are natural events that spark wonder, and inspire scientists to investigate and learn about our universe and our place in it. Tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, moonbows, and decomposition are some examples of phenomena that have inspired scientists to ask “why?” and “how?” These same phenomena can spark curiosity in our students. In this course for K-12 science educators, participants will learn the steps to design and implement an engaging phenomena-based learning experience and participate in inquiry-based media-driven learning where they will interact, clarify, question, and design meaningful learning experiences for themselves and their students. Participants will explore and apply digital tools to set goals, research, track progress, and show learning. Participants will collaborate via online communities to discuss and share lessons and strategies.
